Compare model scales
Choosing between 1:35 and 1:48, or wondering whether an HO building will look right next to 1:72 figures? Pick an object and see its model size at every common scale, drawn to proportion.
Reading the chart
Each bar is the model length of the same real object, so bar lengths are proportional to 1/N. Going from 1:72 to 1:35 roughly doubles every length, while 1:48 sits about halfway between. The figure is to proportion, not true size. Use the printable ruler to see real millimetres.
Size isn't the only thing that changes. At larger scales (smaller N), surface detail, decals and paint texture all become more visible, and a part needs about (N₁/N₂)³ times the material. A 1:35 vehicle uses about 8.7 times the resin of the same vehicle at 1:72. The converter shows the area and volume factors in scale-to-scale mode.
Mixing scales on one table is a choice about looks, not a calculation. Read converting between scales for kitbashing for practical tolerances.
