Reference sizes at your scale
Real-world dimensions modelers reach for, converted to your scale as you choose it. Each entry is labelled so you know whether a number is fixed by a published standard or just a typical value.
Documented Set by a named standard or rulebook. The source is linked, and the number is exact by definition (the real object can still differ slightly).
Illustrative A typical value for planning only. Real objects vary, sometimes a lot. For a specific door, car or tank, use its published specification.
Yours Entries you add. They're stored only in this browser.
Add or edit your own reference
To change a built-in entry, use "Copy to mine". That makes an editable copy, and the original stays as published.
Sources and caveats
- Documented entries cite the standard by name and link to a public summary. Standards bodies sell the standard documents themselves, so check the original if you need certainty.
- Container sizes are the external dimensions of standard-height ISO 668 boxes. High-cube containers are 2,896 mm tall.
- Track gauge is measured between the inner faces of the rails. Model railway gauges are their own standards, explained in railway scales and gauges.
- For people, doors and rooms there's no single correct number. Use the values here as a starting point, then measure the real thing you're modelling.
