Model scale converter
Turn a real object's length, width and height into model size at any scale, work back from a model to real life, or move a part from one scale to another for kitbashing. Results update as you type.
Figures are not exact ratios. Wargaming sizes such as 28 mm or 32 mm describe figure height, often with "heroic" oversized heads, hands and weapons. They don't map to one fixed ratio. Read 28 mm, 32 mm and heroic scale before you buy terrain or vehicles to match.
How the conversion works
A scale of 1:N means one unit on the model stands for N of the same units on the real object. The converter changes everything to millimetres first, using exact definitions (1 in = 25.4 mm, 1 ft = 304.8 mm), then:
- Real → model: model = real ÷ N. For example, a 7.9 m hull at 1:35 is 7,900 ÷ 35 = 225.7 mm.
- Model → real: real = model × N. A 25 mm figure at 1:72 stands for 25 × 72 = 1,800 mm, or 1.8 m.
- Scale → scale: new = old × Nfrom ÷ Nto. A 250 mm part at 1:35 becomes 250 × 35 ÷ 72 = 121.5 mm at 1:72.
Only lengths scale linearly. Areas change by the square of the factor, and the volume of solid parts (resin, filament, paint coverage) changes by the cube. Going from 1:72 to 1:35 roughly doubles length, but multiplies volume by about 8.7. The result panel shows both factors in scale-to-scale mode.
